About Karen Prahler, CRNP
Karen grew up in Bucks County near Philadelphia, PA. She attended Gannon University where she served as the chapter secretary for Alpha Tau Delta, a nursing service fraternity on campus, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. After graduation, Karen pursued her career at various Institutions and Academic Medical Centers and obtained her Critical Care Certification in 2014. She was privileged to work in diverse environments including Cardiothoracic Intensive Care, Neuro Intensive Care, and most recently in the Critical Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
After 13 years of Nursing, she pursued her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham as a Family Nurse Practitioner, graduating in the top 10% of her class. Additionally, she has been in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners since 2022.
Prior to joining AAGA, Karen has been working as a Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care, where she would see 30-45 patients per day as the solo provider, treating medical and minor traumatic injuries. She has a special interest in patient education and empowering patients to become active members of their health. Karen lives in Calvert County with her husband and three children and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, entertaining her kids, and running.
